To study English is to enter worlds that we otherwise wouldn't and to come to a deeper, more complete understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
During your semester in Grade 11 English you will:
- Learn about Canadian and world cultures. What makes us the same? What makes us different? How do we work together to solve the common problems that affect us all?
- Form a clear and concise world view while reading an excert from 'The Omnivores Dilema'
- Learn about the War in Afghanistan while reading `The Kite Runner`
- Discover the very core of what makes us human while reading Shakespeare's Macbeth
- Write your own short stories and poems

Course Outline & Assignments
What are we doing?
We are examining different cultures through short stories and poetry. We are focussing on the ways in which superficial differences hide fundamental similarities.
We are also learning to write creatively by focussing on:
- Unique Detail in our characters and settings
- Choosing the right word for the right situation
