"Come to a greater understanding of the interconnectedness of life and leave with the tools to improve the world."
This is an exciting time in environmental education. Never have the common problems which affect us all been better understood and never have we had the understanding, expertise, and technology to solve these problems.
The Environmental Geography Course is designed to be hands on and intensely practical. You will:
- Work with GPS units and GoogleEarth to better understand the local ecology of Orangeville
- Learn about and monitor ODSS's brand new solar water heaters
- Take field trips to see environmental solutions at work in and around Orangeville (starting with the Shelburne windfarm)
- Work in the ODSS Greenhouse and help to grow the food that will later become your lunch
- Learn about renewable technologies and how we can produce fuel from algae and energy from water
- Meet with people who study and work in the environmental field
