Geography
To study Geography is to understand the planet that we call home. How was the earth formed? How will it change in the future? How do your actions help or hurt the earth?
Grade 9 Geography is designed to be hands on and intensely practical. You will:
- Work in the ODSS Greenhouse and help to grow the food that will later become your lunch
- Learn about climate change and its impact on earth's ecosystems
- Learn about producing fuel from algae and energy from water
- Work with maps, compasses and GPS units to accurately map and gather data on Orangeville
- Take a trip to the Toronto Zoo to learn about endangered species
- Understand the forces that help to shape the earth, including volcanoes, earth quakes, and extreme weather
